About the Department
As per the curriculum set by PCI, KBC NMU Pharmacognosy Department is actively involved in curriculum of various subjects such as Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry-I, Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry II, Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry II, Industrial Pharmacognosy, Herbal drug technology and Quality Control and Standardization of Herbals.
The department is well equipped to introduce these fundamental concept incorporated in the subjects to the students which facilitate the student to enhance and update our traditional knowledge along with its scientific application and know market potential of it.
The department is involved in teaching of Crude drugs, qualitative and quantitative study of microscopy, its evaluation, various extraction techniques, analysis and evaluation of various different types of phytoconstituents along with recent development in the herbal industry with respect to formulation development and its pharmacovilgilance study to the undergraduates. The curriculum includes extensive lectures and laboratory sessions to ensure that students can connect theory to practice and apply their theoretical knowledge gained.
The department fetch worth Rs. 3 lakh+ grants form RGSTC and VCRMS schemes form KBC NMU Jalgaon.
The department has successfully organized one day state level seminar on Intellectual property right: Application in Healthcare
The medicinal chemistry laboratory main objectives the development of specific skills and techniques important to the student in the field of phytochemistry and its evaluation along with its regulation.
